Ozone Air Shower Room was used atHong Kong hospital
CityU scientists have developed a new concept for removing viruses from the clothing of people who have been working in or visiting SARS wards. The “air shower room” was introduced to the public on 17 July by Prof Andrew Leung (Head and Chair Professor, BC) and Dr Joseph Wong (Laboratory Manager, BC) of CityU and their external collaborator Dr Rock Ng, President of RNI (HK) Ltd.
They demonstrated how their invention could be used in hospital wards to help prevent the spread of SARS to the public by hospital staff and patients’ relatives. People leaving wards housing infected patients would need to stay in the air shower room for just 10 to 15 seconds to have the virus removed from their clothing, skin, hair, and tools.
